Get Ready For A New Canon Rebel or SL At CES 2017

At the start of every year Canon usually refreshes its consumer line with a new Rebel or two, such as last year’s T6i and TSs, or as they are respectively known outside of the US, EOS 760D and EOS 750D.

CES is usually a convenient time for them to make the announcements, and with CES 2017 taking place in Las Vegas in early January, it’s around time for Canon to unleash their new PowerShots and consumer DSLRs.

Canon Rumours apparently heard from a source that the cameras would have a new type of viewfinder for a Canon DSLR, although exactly what that entails is up to anyone’s guess.

This year could also finally be the year when the Rebel SL1 gets a replacement. The Canon EOS Rebel SL1, or EOS 100D, was announced in May of 2013, and hasn’t been refreshed since.

The most recent Rebel, the T6, was announced in March and is still operating on a 18MP CMOS APS-C sensor, with a max ISO capacity of 12,800. It would be interesting to see if Canon bring in a similarly priced model with the 24MP CMOS sensor found in the T6s, which also would have DIGIC 6 and Hybrid CMOS AF III.
