GoPro is taking you for a ride on the icy slopes in its new webseries, GoPro Perspectives: The Fourth Phase with Travis Rice. This series comes off the back of the release of the Red Bull Media House film, The Fourth Phase.
The film took several years to make as it followed snowboard superstar Travis Rice’s mission to track the movement of the North Pacific Gyre wind currents.
At various stages of this journey, Rice was able to snowboard down lines in several of the locations the current touches upon. GoPro supplied their action cameras for the making of the movie, which meant plenty of first person footage straight from Rice’s helmet as he sped and swirled down icy mountainsides. Since the release of The Fourth Phase in August, GoPro has gone through the hundreds of hours of footage recorded and put together a selection of four episodes.
The series is available on YouTube with episodes dropping over the following dates
11 October 2016
Episode. 1 - Alaska: Seek and Destroy
18 October 2016
Episode. 2 – Wyoming: Life on Mars
25 October 2016
Episode. 3 – Japan: Peaks, Pillows and Pow
1 November 2016
Episode. 4 – Alaska: The Reciprocal Loop
Episode one is already up, and is as exhilarating as it is a reminder to the sheer potential for unique visuals that GoPro’s tech can provide. The action camera manufacturer may have just released the Hero5 Black but these GoPro Perspectives images demonstrate that the Hero4 is hardly obsolete.
