Professional Oklahoma photographer Sarah Hester has released a raunchy series of boudoir photography-style pictures. They feature an attractive male model in various tantalising poses, as a sexualised version of Harry Potter.

The magical world of the Harry Potter books enchanted a generation. Even now, almost ten years since the last book in the original series was published, J. K Rowling’s universe continues to enthrall. Not only does that mean spin-offs to the franchise like the online portal Pottermore, or the upcoming Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie, but evermore evolving ways of fans representing the world has Rowling created.

This of course (as is the case with almost every fandom) includes many erotic explorations of the characters and the environment, to which Hester has now added to, with her tastefully tongue-in-cheek shoot.

“I love everything about Harry Potter,” says Hester. “I love being able to get lost in a world that's so big my imagination can't contain it. ”

As if someone had cast a memory charm, the inspiration for this project originated from a simple case of forgetfulness. When Hester first met her model for this project (Zach Howell) during a photographers meet-up, Hester recalls that Zach was “modeling for us and helping with posing men. I mainly shoot females and I need a ton of help. I couldn't remember his name so I started calling him 'Harry'”. Eventually this nickname led to the pair joking about performing a Harry Potter boudoir session and in Hester’s words, “. . . decided it could be awesome. ” They scheduled a shoot for the following week.

Howell, who is is 24 years old, is a model and photographer from Oklahoma, treated the cheeky shoot with a lot of levity. “He's an absolute blast to shoot,” Hester states. “We all laughed a lot during the session. He's as fun and nice as he is handsome. We've actually become friends.

One element noticeable in this session and rather unconventional for the genre of Boudoir photography is the lack of non-diegetic tonal light, giving it a very realistic feel. Hester explains, “I used a Nikon D750 for this shoot and a 50mm 1. 4 lens. Only natural light was used for these images. My studio is very well lit. I use Lightroom to edit all of my images. ”

Though most will understand that the intention of this is a bit of fun and know that representations of fictional protaganists in sexualised situations are a normal part of cultural interaction, some may find it jarring to see a childhood character depicted in this fashion.

To any complaints or criticisms of this sort, Hester has an articulate response, “Anyone who has followed the books or movies knows that Harry grows up. Harry would be a man now. We looked at the project from that perspective. I'll always have a schoolgirl crush on Justin Timberlake, but I don't look at him now and see the child he was when I first saw him. I see a man. ”
