Moment, known for releasing the first anamorphic lens for mobile phones several years ago, is branching out into the consumer drones market with another set of benchmark releases. The company has announced a Kickstarter campaign for Moment Air, a series of three products plus accessories that are compatible with DJI drones.

Besides an Anamorphic Lens that is compatible with DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom models, the company is offering up Airlight ND filters and an Ultra Thin iPhone case designed to fit the controller.

Drone Anamorphic Lens

Moment claims these are the first anamorphic camera lens released for drones. They promise an ultra-wide angle shot without losing compression, horizontal flares, true black bars, and a buttery cinematic look. As mentioned above, these lenses are available for both the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom models.

Shooting anamorphic footage is expensive and typically reserved for Hollywood productions. Moment has taken their five years of experience developing this product line for camera phones and applied it to drones. They've created a proprietary lens and counterweight system to ensure the lens is balanced around the camera while not thwarting the gimbal.

They will retail for $300, each, but Kickstarter backers can get them for $200 while the campaign runs.

More key features and specs:

Compatible with Moment's Anamorphic ND Filters

Hand polished, cinema quality glass used in 4K film lenses

1. 33x brings the look and character of a 2:40:1 cinemascope

Featherlight constriction keeps the lens under 50g

Magnification Ratio - 1. 33x Horizontal Squeeze

Aspect Ratio (Video) - 2. 40:1 Cinemascope (after de-squeeze)

Distortion - Vintage Anamorphic barrel type distortion

Airlight Drone Filters

These CPL and ND filters, designed for the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom, will be the lightest drone filters on the market if the Kickstarter campaign is successfully funded. The lighter the filter, the less stress on the camera's gimbal, the smoother the footage. The ND filters are designed to give a subtle cinematic blur while CPL technology helps creators alter the light angle bouncing off bright surfaces.

The filters consist of cinema-grade glass with advanced hydrophobic coatings, so they should be able to withstand the elements and deliver high-quality footage. A set of six filters, consisting of a 4-stop through 64-stop ND filter, plus a Circular Polarizer Filter, will retail for $120. Kickstarter backers can get a set by pledging $99 minimum.

More key features and specs:

Moment cinema quality, shatterproof glass

Proprietary professional coatings: Hydrophobic, Scratch Resistant, Anti-Reflective, Color Corrective

Airrlight construction using aerospace grade aluminum

Lightest on the market (Mavic 2 Zoom ND = 1. 4 grams)

ND Filter (Mavic 2 Zoom): 1. 4 grams

ND Filter (Mavic 2 Pro): 2. 0 grams

CPL Filter (Mavic 2 Zoom): 1. 7 grams

CPL Filter (Mavic 2 Pro): 2. 3 grams

Ultra Thin Photo Case

Moment introduces this as 'the lightest and thinnest iPhone case we could make. ' A 0. 75mm thin casing makes it easier to fit into filmmaking accessories including drone controllers, audio rigs, and gimbals. It's also textured to make gripping easier and the open space on the bottom is designed to fit mobile cables, lights, or connect a microphone. It is also designed to work with other Moment mobile lenses, unsurprisingly.

The case is compatible with iPhone XS, XS MAX, and XR models. It can be purchased for $25 on Kickstarter or $30 retail.

More key features and specs:

Super minimal case at 0. 75mm thick

Aerospace composite body, the case weighs 12 grams

Open on the bottom to connect mics, lights, and cables

Attach a lens with our reinforced M-Series mounting interface

No slip grip texture for secure grip in hand and in tripod/gimbal clamps

Length: 145 mm (iPhone XS)

Height: 10. 2 mm (iPhone XS)

Width: 72. 7 mm (iPhone XS)

Moment is offering up a Drone Carry Case, Battery Carry Case, and Landing Pad to complement the three Moment Air offerings. When asked why they decided to venture into the drone market, the company told PetaPixel 'with our anamorphic we got a lot of requests for large market camera (an affordable anamorphic) and drones. Even our own team wanted to see if we could get it to work on a drone because if you want that look it’s actually really expensive. '

There are 59 days (as of this writing) left to take advantage of savings on any of these products by backing Moment's latest Kickstarter campaign.
