This started as the featured Friday article and then became an opinion. So here we are. With the release of the Powershot V1, we are rejoicing in the demise of Powershot scalpers worldwide. I have nothing against people making a dollar, but the prices are ridiculous.

In this patent application (2025-023325), Canon is demonstrating some advanced primes with IS. We already know that Canon has come out with the Canon RF 135mm f/1. 8L IS USM, this isn’t the same element design, but a new one from Canon.
The Canon PowerShot V1 has been written about a lot recently and we figured we’d put all of the information we have in one place. There is some new information about the upcoming camera. The announcement for the Canon PowerShot V1 will be a bit different than normal.
As always, most imaging companies will make announcements ahead of the CP+ show in Japan, which begins later this month. We have already seen announcements from OM Systems and Nikon, with the latter having another round.
Back when the EOS R7 was announced in 2022, there were immediate rumors about a Canon EOS R7 C. We’re confident that such a camera was on the roadmap but was cancelled before it ever came to market.
We have received more information and some confirmation on the sensor size of the V1 powershot. This is a newly developed sensor from Canon, and it certainly appears to be different as its a size that no one has done before.
Canon is coming with a video focused APS-C camera, and we have sporatically reported about it and recently published a rumored specifications for a new APS-C camera. We have been told that Canon will announced an EOS R50 V, and it has been described as “boxy”.
