Samsung has announced the ViewFinity S8, a new high-end monitor designed with creative professionals in mind. The monitor comes in both 27” and 32” models, both of which offer 4K resolution.

The monitors use a 3,840 x 2,160 pixel IPS LCD panel with a matte finish and factory calibration. The displays offer 98% DCI-P3 coverage, is DisplayHDR 600 certified (for the 32” model, DisplayHDR 400 certified for the 27” model), features Pantone validation for accurate colors and can display up to a billion colors (likely through 8-bit + FRC, rather than true 10-bit support). The 32” model offers a peak brightness of 600 nits while the 27” model is limited to 400 nits.

The ViewFinity S8 monitors come with a stand that offers height, tilt and swivel adjustments with a VESA mounting plate should you want to mount it onto an external arm or stand. As with most monitors nowadays, the ViewFinity S8 models have an array of I/O, including a USB-C Power Delivery cable with 90W downstream charging, one Display Port, one HDMI port (the exact specification isn’t mentioned) and three USB-A downstream ports.

There’s also an ethernet connection, so you can plug a wired ethernet cable into the monitor and get wired internet through the USB-C connection. Other features include an Adaptive Picture mode, an Eye Saver Mode and a Flicker Free mode.

The ViewFinity S8 models are set to launch globally at the end of the month, although exact release dates may vary from one location to another. The only pricing information available at this is for South Korea, which shows pricing of 820,000 won (~$635) for the 32” model and 720,000 won (~$560) for the 27” model. Assuming these prices remain the same or just above in other regions, these should be pretty respectable monitors at relatively reasonable price points.
