So, kick back and read up on eight of the smartest features and applications the Samsung S8 has to offer photographers like you. . .
One
Security - Fingerprint recognition is so last year. The Galaxy S8/S8+ boasts multiple ways that you can open up the phone in a matter of seconds. In addition to the fingerprint scanner, both the S8 and S8+ offer iris scanner authentication. The human iris stays unchanged from an age of 18 months (who know!) and is much harder to counterfeit - even identical twins have a different iris configuration. If you keep important images on your phone, this added layer of security is good to hear.
Two
Insane display - The Galaxy S8/S8+ has literally got you covered with its bezel-less Infinite Display, which curves around, covering the screen. The S8 boasts a 5. 8-inch screen, while the S8+ offer 6. 2-inch – 18% bigger than the previous edition. As you can see, the Home button is touch sensitive and there is little camera protrusion for a slim and sleek design.
Three
Bixby - Although it sounds like a character from a Lord Of The Rings film, Bixby is actually the Galaxy S8/S8+ intelligent multi-modal interface. Aimed at making your life easier, this system enables you to achieve task like managing the camera functions by voice command or identify landmarks by image recognition.
Four
Processor strength - A smartphone is no good if it just looks pretty, it has to perform well to. So, the good news is that the Galaxy S8/S8+ uses an incredibly powerful processor to make all the magic happen. In fact, both devices are equipped with the industry’s first 10nm processor. This processor speed comes into its own when using features like Samsung DeX and Samsung Connect. Processor power is also key in image capture, especially when using features like burst mode.
Five
The S8 is basically a computer - Let’s talk a little more about Samsung DeX. For those unfamiliar with this system, it basically allows you to connect the device to a larger monitor/keyboard which will enable what Samsung call ‘a desktop-like experience’. Essentially, this small phone acts as the computer - wow! So, if you prefer to edit images using a mouse, the S8 has you covered.
Six
Download speed - Nobody likes waiting for large files to download - especially in photography where getting images to a client can make the difference between winning a commission or missing out. The Galaxy S8/S8+ both off Samsung’s Gigabit LTE and Gigabit Wi-Fi systems which enable download speed of up to 1Gbps. Great for downloading games and movies for downtime between photoshoots too, right?
Seven
HDR power - The Galaxy S8/S8+ take High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography serious. So much so that both phones are the first mobile devices certified by UHD Alliance as HDR Premium. Photographers won’t really care what that means, just that it will enable you capture and see vibrant colours, rich in saturation.
Eight
Connectivity - If you’re the sort of photography who prefers to control a camera via the Bluetooth connection for remote control, you’ll be pleased to hear the Galaxy S8/S8+ support Bluetooth 5. This technology doubles transfer speeds using low energy, resulting in a more reliable connection that is less likely to cut out when you trying to take a photo remotely.
