Yongnuo are well known for making feature-packed products that come with affordable price-tags and the brand’s latest lighting product is sure to be of interest to photographers who tire of endlessly changing their flashgun’s batteries.
The YN686EX-RT is a flashgun designed for use with Canon DSLR cameras. Instead of AA batteries, the unit uses a rechargeable 2000mAh Li-ion battery that slides into the side of the flashgun and is quoted as being able to fire 750 on a single charge.
With a high Guide Number of GN60 (ISO 100), the unit supports TTL lighting, which measures the amount of light needed to correctly expose the scene. Other modes include Multi and full Manual and the YN686EX-RT is also compatible with Canon’s wireless RT system, so the power can be adjusted remotely.
A battery life indicator on the YN686EX-RT’s LCD screen shows the user how much juice is left in the battery and an AF assist beam on the front of the unit helps with focusing in low light. Lastly, the YN686EX-RT unit supports high-speed sync, with the flash working up to a shutter speed of 1/8000sec.
Priced at around $150, the Yongnuo YN686EX-RT is shipping now and comes with a charger and cable included.
