Sigma’s hotly-anticipated 14-24mm f/2. 8 DG HSM Art lens is still on pre-order and hasn’t even hit the streets yet. However, photographers who are salivating at the mouth over this choice piece of glass now have a solution to using filters with it as NiSi has just announced a dedicated filter holder system.
Because the Sigma optic has such a wide field of view, this can cause problems when using traditional filter holders, so NiSi has designed the S5 model from scratch to avoid these issues.
The S5 filter system for the Sigma 14-24mm f/2. 8 DG HSM Art is is made from premium aluminum alloy, utilising CNC technology for precise fitment and includes some high-end features such as an anti-reflection coating to minimise reflections and further boost image quality. Plus the system includes what NiSi call a ‘low-drag’ thread system, resulting in quicker installation and the S5 can hold two 150mm filters from NiSi’s large range of ND and ND grad optical filters.
The S5 filter system also has measures to protect your lens, too, with a delicate lock screw securing the filter without putting undue pressure on the lens, which is further protected by the holder’s EVA plastic lining.
The NiSi S5 filter system for the Sigma 14-24mm f/2. 8 DG HSM Art lens is available now and photographers can choose their preferred adaptor ring size. Prices start at $440 and you can watch a short video about the filter holder here.
