Panasonic GH5 To Be Released in January Along With 3 New Leica MFT Zooms

We've been hearing about the Panasonic GH5 for months now, and it was the only camera that nobody was able to get a sneak peak at during Photokina 2016 – basically because even a pre-production model wasn't ready yet.

But everyone knows it's coming, and now rumours are suggesting that it will be released in early January.

During the press conference at Photokina we heard plenty about what the GH5 is capable of, and indeed it does promise to be one of the most exciting cameras of the year. The GH-series has always been video-focused, while Olympus and their OM-D EM-1 seem to be gearing for still photographers.

The GH5 will have a new 18MP MFT sensor, 4K video at 60fps, and 6K photo & video modes. It's estimated to be the same price as the OM-D EM-1 at US$2,000.

During Photokina, Panasonic also showed a roadmap for 2017, and they plan to release three Leica Hybrid MFT zoom lenses:

Leica DG 12-60mm f/2. 8-4. 0 standard zoom lens

Leica DG 8-18mm f/2. 8-4. 0 wide zoom lens

Leica DG 50-200mm f/2. 8-4. 0 telephoto zoom lens
