Asus has revealed the latest device under its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand, the Asus ROG Phone II, and judging by the spec sheet the new Asus is the most powerful Android phone currently available.

Its 1080p OLED screen measures 6. 59 inches and is the first on a smartphone with a 120Hz refresh rate. The ROG II is also he first device to feature Qualcomm's brand new gaming-focused Snapdragon 855 Plus which is cooled by a system that includes a vapor chamber and vents.

The phone features 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage as well as a large 6,000mAh battery. Two USB-C ports are quite a unique feature and allow you to charge the phone and attach accessories at the same time. Being a phone targeted at gamers, there is a range of accessories available, including a gamepad, dual-screen dock and a clip-on cooler fan.

On the camera side of things the Asus offers a dual-cam setup with a super-wide-angle. the main camera comes with a 26mm equivalent focal length and uses an 48MP 1/2" Sony sensor behind a lens with an F1. 8 aperture. A combined PDAF/laser AF system is on board as well. The super-wide's equivalent focal length is 11mm and the lens has an F2. 4 aperture. In video mode the Asus can shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second and up to 480 fps slow-motion at 720p resolution.

While the camera specs look solid, there's no tele-lens which for many users might be a deal-breaker. On the other hand the Asus offers bundles of processing power which can not only be used for gaming but also for on-device image and video editing.

The global version of the device will launch in September. No pricing has been revealed yet but The Verge was told by Asus representative it will be similar to the original ROG phone which retailed at $899.
