Instant cameras have enjoyed a massive resurgence over the last few years with photographers young (and not so young) discovering and rediscovering a love for vintage style and a physical print you can hold in your hands moments after the image is taken.

The SQ6 is available in three choices of colours.

Well, now photographers can create prints in a new format as Fujifilm has released the SQ6 – the brand’s first-ever square format Instax camera. Available in three colours (white, gold and grey) the SQ6 is compatible with Fujifilm’s Instax Square film, which produces prints measuring 62mm x 62mm/2. 4in. x 2. 4in that develop in around 90 seconds depending on the ambient temperature.

The instant camera features a built-in flash and a self-timer mode.

Built around a retractable lens system with a 65mm focal length, the camera is powered by two CR2 lithium batteries and weighs in at just 393g. Features include a self-timer mode with a 10-second delay, plus a built-in flash with an effective distance of 2. 7 metres.

Weighing just 393g, the SQ6 is perfect for nights out with friends.

Extra features such as a macro mode that enables a closest focusing distance of 30cm and a double exposure mode will help shooters bring some creativing to their prints and the Exposure Adjustment mode means that the brightness and darkness can be adjusted to the photographer’s taste. The SQ6 also comes with three flash color filters (Orange/Purple/Green), that can be added over flash to give images what Fujifilm call ‘a unique and textured colouring’.

The SQ6 is expected to sell for around $130.

Those wishing to add the SQ6 to their collection of Instax cameras don’t have long to wait as Fujifilm has listed the release date as May 25, 2018. Although no definite price has been confirmed, SQ6 is expected to carry a US price-tag of around $130.
