Here’s How Apple’s Touch Bar Will Work With Photoshop

Despite all the controversy surrounding the new MacBook Pro, there will no doubt be a legion of photographers investing in Apple’s latest ‘Pro’ offering, and Adobe knows it. The Photoshop development team has already begun working on using the Touch Bar to create a “natural, expressive, and powerful new way of working with Photoshop.

” Experience Design Manager of Adobe Photoshop Bradee Evans took to the stage just after the product was announced to show off how Photoshop and the Touch Bar will work in tandem to make your post-production process just a little bit more fluid.

In the demo, she used the tools featured on the Touch Bar to composite two images together, with the new interface acting as a new way to access some of the tools that are hidden away on Photoshop’s desktop interface. Sliders for adjusting opacity, brightness, contrast and a host of other features will also make use of the Touch Bar, giving Photoshop a more tactile element and adding versatility to Adobe’s vast amount of potential workflows.

As any photographer or Photoshop user knows, there are around a dozen different ways to accomplish any task you’d like to perform, and now the Touch Bar will add an even greater number of pathways to your goal. Nice try, Apple, but you won’t be pulling us away from our almighty keyboard shortcuts anytime soon.
