Kodak Set To Announce a ‘Classic Reborn’ in Two Weeks

Kodak is promising an epic launch by splashing an image of the Kodak logo on a shiny new piece of gadgetry accompanied solely with a date and the tagline “A Classic is Born. Again”. The image, which was shared via Kodak’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, teases an image showing what looks to be an extremely thin piece of tech featuring a small button engraved with the iconic Kodak logo.

There isn’t much information out there but consensus seems to suggest a smartphone, possibly a successor to last year’s IM5, as opposed to a reboot of one of the Kodak classic cameras. Judging by the response that the launch of the iPhone 7 and Google Pixel garnered against the many DSLR announcements at Photokina, perhaps Kodak is being wise.

Sources speculate, unsurprisingly, that the phone will have to have a photo-centric design. Perhaps it will incorporate the stylistic, grainy video format of the Super 8 camera line; or even launch a new piece of technology to propel Kodak back to its glory days. What classic would you like Kodak to rebirth? Answers on a postcard.
