Live Updates: Photokina 2016

We’re in the midst of the biggest week of the year for photography news, and product announcements, unveilings and demonstrations are coming thick and fast. Below you’ll find our roundup of all the news so far, just in case you’ve missed anything.

• Fujifilm finally confirmed the rumours that it had been working on a mirrorless medium format camera. The 51. 4MP beast is known as the GFX 50S, and we’ve already gotten our hands on it.

• Sony revived the long-neglected a-mount with the 42. 4MP full-frame a99 II

• Nikon expanded its KeyMission lineup with three new action cameras

• Panasonic confirmed that a Lumix GH5 compact system camera is in the works. The company also updated its premium compact offering, showing off the new LX15

• Jumping onto the mirrorless bandwagon, Chinese company Yi announced its own mirrorless camera, the M1.

• Sigma showed off a bunch of new lenses, including the 85mm f/1. 4 ART, 12-24mm ART, and 500mm f/4 Sport.

• Thousands of miles from Cologne, at an event in Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Olympic Valley, California, GoPro announced a slew of new products. The Hero 5, the new Hero 5 Session, and the eagerly-anticipated Karma were all on display.

• Phase One announced a new 100MP ‘Budget’ Back and three new lenses.

• Olympus showed off two new cameras, the flagship OM-D E-M1 Mark II and the Micro Four Thirds E-PL8

• SanDisk announced the world’s highest capacity SD card, featuring a whopping 1TB of storage.

• Olympus also took the time to show off some brand new lenses.

• Polaroid announced a new Snap Touch digital instant camera.

• Panasonic unleashed the Lumix FZ2000 superzoom

• Panasonic also unveiled the successor to the enormously popular GH7, the 4K-ready G80.

• Kodak revealed the beautifully-named PixPro 360 4KVR360.

• Profoto introduced the Pro-10, the world’s fastest flash.
