Useful Photography Tip #193: Don’t Forget to Bounce a Flash off the Nearest Wall at a Party

When you're at a party using a flash, it's common practice to either use a bounce card (like a Flashbender) or to bounce the light off the ceiling and a bit behind you in order to give frontal illumination to your subjects.

But also seriously do remember to take note of all of your surroundings. If you've got a wall not far from you, bounce the flash off of that and turn your back to the wall. By pointing the flash up and behind you, you'll provide some nice frontal lighting on your subject. .
