The new model retains the same basic look, feel and weight of the original, meaning it continues to be the smallest compact camera on the market with a relatively large 1"-type sensor. It carries over the existing 28-82mm equiv. F2-4. 9 lens, with all major updates under the hood.
Headlining those updates is the new Digic VII processor, first seen in the larger G7 X Mark II. This processor enables Raw burst shooting at up to 8. 2 fps for ~21 frames (the previous model shot around 1 fps in Raw), and Canon has added Dual Sensing Image Stabilization, meaning that information from the lens and sensor is combined to offer a claimed 3. 5 stops of image stabilization.
Other additions include greater customization options, improved AF tracking, better scene recognition in auto mode and in-camera Raw conversion.
The G9 X Mark II is set to ship in February in your choice of black or silver for $529.
