In this patent application (2024-023099) Canon describes quite a few different full-frame super ultra-wide zoom lenses. Now with Canon just having released the pretty incredible Canon RF 10-20mm f/4 L IS STM, this is probably some of Canon's prior research that happened with that lens.

In this patent application (2024-009238) we have a series of telephoto primes for the RF mount. We know these are specifically for the RF mount because the back focus distance is under 44mm. Also, with a more relaxed back focus distance (greater than 20mm) they should work with Canon's tele-extenders. canonrumors.com »

OpticalLimits has recently reviewed the Canon RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM. This was an impressive optic when Canon released it in October 2023, and we had predicted it would be a strong performer based on its MTF.

Kakakumag. com has published their review of the Canon RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM that was announced earlier this month. The review is in Japanese, but Google Translate works just fine. A big point of the review notes the “incredible” resolving power of the lens at 10mm.
We were hoping that Canon was past issues with initial supply of new lenses and cameras, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Canon has now added the RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM to the list. A lot of lenses have dropped off the list over the last few months, but it's not like [.
Yesterday when the news broke about the Canon RF 10-20mm, I immediately did our comparison of the Canon RF 10-20mm and the Canon EF 11-24mm. Let's just say the preliminary look of this lens makes it look like a home run for Canon if you shoot super-ultra-wide frequently.
Before you read what I'm writing here, I'll just say one thing. If you love going really wide and even wider and have been waiting for your dream lens on the RF mount, then don't waste time finishing reading this article before you preorder.
