As we all know, a leaked image revealed the existence of a Canon EOS RV. This brought about a lot of excitement and discussion. We could hear the EOS M faithful cheering at the direction we’re going to see in the APS-C lineup.
PhotoTrend, a french publication has posted an interview that they had with Canon executives and the topic of a Canon retro style camera came up. It’s interesting how open Canon executives were this time.

The Canon EOS RV will be a new segment in Canon’s APS-C lineup of cameras. We have written about that topic in the past. We expect to see 3 new camera segments in the EOS R lineup. Both APS-C and Full Frame sensor cameras.
It seems that someone snagged a photo of a future Canon camera, with the identifier of Canon EOS RV. It’s a compact camera looking to have a similar frame to the PowerShot V1. The Canon EOS RV will be one of three new RF mount camera segments being added to the Canon lineup in 2025.
The Photography trends of yesterday, seem to be making a comeback today. We are seeing growth in 35 and 120 film, there is the obvious boom of instant cameras, the return of the fixed lens compact, such as the Canon PowerShot V1 and it looks like the next thing will be “retro” styled cameras.
