Buying gifts for a photography-obsessed friend or loved one can sometimes be challenging. Cameras and more pricey lenses are probably out of most people’s budgets for a simple gift, but nobody wants to unwrap a boring accessory like a memory card or lens cloth do they? Well, Leica has come to the rescue by releasing a cool toy camera made with LEGO.
Priced at $45, the tiny LEGO M cameras measure 3-inches long by 2-inches high by 1. 25-inches deep and it’s up to you to assemble the bits together - after, all, that’s the fun part and talking of assembly, you can find online instructions that will walk you through the build. Now, not that we should have to mention it, but these gifts obviously aren’t real cameras and don’t take pictures.
Available in black/gray or brown grey, the LEGO cameras join a number of other cool Leica gifts, including a Coffee Mug that looks like the brand’s Noctilux-M 50 lens, plus a tiny Leica M10-shaped USB drive.
For a little more inspiration, you can check out the video below to show you how to build a more generic LEGO camera from scratch. . .
Leica’s cool photo gift isn’t the first time the two worlds of cameras and LEGO have collided so, for those who like a little nostalgia, you can check out pro photographer Chase Jarvis showing what he can do with another LEGO camera (that actually does take photos) when he met up with Digital Rev in Hong Kong a few years back. . .
