Anticipation surrounding a new launch from DJI has been brewing for some time now, but the release of an invite to a press launch has catapulted the rumour mill into overdrive as it appears the launch of a new drone, expected to be the Mavic 2, is imminent.
Along with other sites, Photo Rumours shared a grab of the mystical press invite, which states the event time and place to be New York on July 18 at 10am (local time). That means that drone fans have less than a month to wait until the new launch.
The press invite also dropped some cryptic clues as the image on the graphic, which at first glance looks like an eye, but actually appears to be an aerial image of a mountain landscape on closer inspection. The report on Photo Rumours also went further and published a list of rumoured specifications.
Among the specifications it’s listed that the new drone, which is expected to be called the Mavic 2, will have an extended flight time of around 35 minutes on a single charge, along with achieving a top speed of 45mph in Sport Mode. The rumoured features also suggest the new drone will include an upgraded propulsion system with larger motors.
Camera wise, the rumours suggest there camera will sport a 1-inch sensor and a 24mm lens with an aperture range of f/2. 8 to f/11. Of course, while all rumours must be taken with a grain of salt, the additional rumours that the new Mavic could have a newly-designed 3-axis gimbal, D-Log and D-Gamut and binocular rear sensors will surely be enough to tempt current Mavic users to upgrade.
So, are you excited about DJI’s new drone release and what other features would like to see on any Mavic successor?
