Elinchrom has announced its first battery-powered monolight, the Elinchrom One. The off-camera light has long been requested by Elinchrom users and includes an integrated battery. The battery provides 725 full-power flashes per charge.
In terms of flash features, the Elinchrom One is a 131 watt-second light and offers high-speed sync up to 1/7,000s in 'Action' mode. In normal mode, flash duration at minimum power is 1/1530s and 1/155s at maximum power. Flash modes include manual, TTL and HSS (with Transmitter Pro). The flash color at max power is 5600K in normal mode and 5900K in Action mode. Elinchrom states that the flash color is stable to +/- 150 K. The light includes a modeling lamp with an adjustable color temperature from 2,700 K to 6,500 K and a 3,000-lumens output.
As mentioned, the integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 725 full-power flashes with a full charge. The flash can recycle in as little as 0. 06 seconds at minimum power and 0. 9s at max power. The flash's power stability is +/- 0. 5%. The Elinchrom One includes a USB-C port, which can be used to actively charge the light.
The Elinchrom One is roughly the size and weight of a 70-200mm f/2. 8 lens, although it has a bit more diameter. Without the diffusion dome and tilt head attached, the One is 22. 5 x 10 x 10 cm (8. 5" x 3. 9" x 3. 9"). With the diffusion dome and tilt head, the dimensions increase to 23 x 16. 5 x 10. 5 cm (9" x 6. 5" x 4. 1"). In terms of weight, without the tilt head, the flash weighs 1. 3 kg (2. 9 lbs), and with the tilt head, the weight goes up to 1. 5 kg (3. 3 lbs).
The Elinchrom One is controlled through dials and a touch interface. The light includes Elinchrom's newly developed OCF modifier mount, which is compatible with a wide array of light modifiers. It's also natively compatible with most Profoto light shapers.
The light has a built-in Skyport, allowing it to be used wirelessly. Using Skyport, you can use the One across 20 channels and in 4 groups. Indoors, using the Transmitter Pro on your camera, the operating range is up to 60m. Outdoors, that range increases to up to 200m. The light also includes built-in Bluetooth (4. 2).
The Elinchrom One is available for preorder for $900. The light can also be purchased in a Dual Kit, which costs $1,800 and comes with two monolights and chargers and a larger backpack-style carrying case.
The Elinchrom One monolight comes with the OCF adapter, OCF diffusion dome, 65W USB-C wall charger, USB-C cable, a case and a two-year warranty. The Elinchrom One is available for preorder with a suggested retail price of $900. The Elinchrom One will begin shipping on August 27.
