Smartphone photography has gotten a little easier for Google fans as the Google Photos app has now introduced an auto white balance feature. The auto white balance can work in conjunction with the full Auto tool which at this point can take control of settings that include the exposure, saturation, and contrast of an image.
This won’t mean much to the Instagram artistes who know exactly how to tweak every setting to upteempth point. However for the average post on the move it should save us all from dark, off colour images mucking up our feeds.
Over the last year, Google has made a mighty push towards taking a bigger piece of the digital photography pie. The launch of their fantastically rated Pixel smartphone was met with strong approval by mobile photographers. It only makes sense that the company would work to get their software up to scratch through incremental upgrades like this. It does remain to be seen if people will accept the Photos tool over third party apps but getting the basics nailed down is certainly a step in the right direction.
