Nikon has had a rollercoaster time of it lately, but 2017 may be about to turn into a positive year as rumours suggest the long-awaited replacement for the D810 could soon be announced. In fact, if sources are correct, the new high megapixel camera could be launched before the end of July! Internet rumour site Nikon Rumours is reporting the replacement for the D810 could be called the D820 or D850 and that it’s likely to sport a high-resolution sensor of around 45-megapixels, which would see a significant increase over the 36-MP D810.
The D810 has been around since 2014 and, although it is still Nikon's highest megapixel DSLR, it trails behind Canon's big gun 5DS and 5DSR cameras, which both offer 50-megapixels.
The website reports the new camera is rumoured to share the same autofocus system as Nikon’s full-frame sports and wildlife camera, the D5 and that although there’ll be no GPS, the D820 should have a tiltable LCD, improved low light and high ISO performance and two memory card slots - one SD and one XQD. Lastly, rumours suggest there may be an upgraded version of Nikon’s Snapbridge Bluetooth technology, which enables Nikon users to share images to the web quickly via their smart devices.
As for release dates, Nikon Rumours expects the launch to go live by the end of July, or early August. Also, there’s no words on what the D810 replacement may cost. So, what which features would you like to see from Nikon?
