2019 looks set to be a big year for Olympus. Not only is the brand celebrating its 100th anniversary, but the champion of cool-looking Micro Four-Thirds cameras is set to launch a very important new model.
Named the E-M1X, we were already given indications that this camera would be different from previous OM-D and Pen models released by Olympus, both in form factor and for its potential use. Well, a new video released by Olympus has teased the camera ahead of a now-confirmed launch date of January 24.
The video shows the camera being used in a number of sporting scenarios; an American Football game, a water polo match and a beach volleyball court, all but confirming the E-M1X as a full-blooded action camera. This will prick the ears of sports and wildlife photographers looking to capture action with a smaller option than a DSLR.
The video also gives photographers a better look at the camera’s form factor, which is a departure from previous models and it appears the E-M1X has a built-in vertical handgrip, further enhancing its credentials as an action camera.
There’s still no word on further specifications or any news on pricing, but with the video now confirming the launch date of the E-M1X as January 24, photographers don’t have too much longer to wait for the full details. You can watch the teaser video below. . .
