After volunteering for 5 weeks in the Porte de la Chapelle camp in Northern Paris I decided to give out 15 disposable cameras to residents to allow them to document their own reality. This came after watching numerous journalists visit the camp and take photos as if the people living there were some sort of distinct species, to be watched but not engaged with.

Of the 15 given out, 8 cameras were returned, the loses reflecting the instability of the participants' lives. . boredpanda.com
