Luc Kordas: Finding the Daydreamers Among Us in NYC

For years, New York City has been a mecca for street photographers looking to capture unique moments occurring all around us. Unless you happen to be in New York City during a hurricane or a massive snow storm, chances are, you'll be surrounded by locals and tourists alike going about their lives, moving from one destination to the next.

The Slower Lens on the Sony RX100 VI May Turn Bokeh Lovers Off

With the new announcement of the Sony RX100 VI camera, there comes with it a number of great technologies but also a number of tradeoffs. Before I go on, I should state that I've spent a few minutes with the new camera and that I get to play with it more later on. But right off the bat, I've got a number of theories.

Op Ed: Working with a 28mm Lens as a 35mm Fanatic

It was the Sony 28mm f2 FE lens that first seriously introduced me to 28mm lenses, but it was the Nikon 28mm f1. 4 that made me really fall in love with them and the Leica 28mm f1. 4 that solidified that even further.

Review: Masters of Photography: Joel Meyerowitz

That’s what I said to myself 20 minutes into his new MasterClass offered by Masters Of. Photography.  We rarely get to learn from the true legends of photography. And maybe that’s a good thing, because the best photographers aren’t always good teachers.

Does Our Street Photography Have Meaning?

I have been practising Street Photography for some time now. As the years have gone by I have been happy with the progress that I have made, both aesthetically and in obtaining knowledge. A few days ago I was reviewing my portfolio, trying to understand exactly what direction I want to go with my body of work.

Can We Guess Which is Better? Leica M10 vs Leica M6

Ever been curious if it's worth "upgrading" from a Leica M6 to an M10? In a recent trip to New York City, George Muncey of Negative Feedback swapped his M6 with New Yorker Joe Greer's M10 for a day to see how the experience and the results would stack up.

Skander Khlif Showcases the Beauty of Munich’s Everyday Scenes

In previous features, we've seen Munich-based street and documentary photographer Skander Khlif reveal the beauty of his hometown through his unique perspectives. For example, there's his black and white series of river surfers riding the waves of The Eisbach.

Sam Parkes Shows the Poetic Side to Cuba’s Everyday Scenes

My name is Sam Parkes and I would describe my photography as poetic storytelling. By that I do not mean fiction or in any way set up, I don’t add things in the edit or take away. I try to create an individual photograph that tells a coherent and compelling story.

The Best Compact Cameras For Street Photography

Street photography is a popular hobby for photographers in dense urban areas. One can simply pick up their camera, and go for a walk for a seemingly endless supply of people and moments and interactions to capture.

How to Escape Your Bubble in Street Photography

An old tutor once told me “Street Photography is not about just one good element in the frame. It is about bringing several elements together, and creating stories that are not necessarily obvious to the everyday eye”.

50mm or 35mm Lenses: Which Should You Choose

This may sound like a crazy title, but in all honesty, it really isn't. The easy answer is whatever is best for you. But that's not deep enough of an answer for whether you need a 35mm or a 50mm lens.

What It Means To Be Crazy In Love, Captured By 15 Street Photographers Of NYC

Love is a beautiful thing. And yes, this is probably one of the most obvious sentences of all. But it might sometimes seem that showing affection or passion has become not that common these days in the world where everyone is attached to the technology so much, and the pace of life has reached some new heights.

Set It and Forget It, A Case For Shooting In Program Mode

If there are two things that are hammered into every photographer who pays attention to the educational circuit these days it is that they need to shoot in RAW and they need to shoot in manual mode. Any camera controlled ‘auto’ mode is considered amateur or inferior, and while older cameras weren’t the best with metering (which leads to inaccurate auto mode settings), modern cameras are pretty darn good at it and can usually get you right around an ideal exposure – or at least close enough that you can adjust to post.

Vintage Camera Review: Olympus XA2

The Olympus XA2 probably isn't as famous at its predecessor, but it is quite a beautiful and simple camera to use otherwise. I got mine from Brooklyn Film Camera, and in some ways I like to think about it as Olympus' version of the Lomography LCA camera.

Street Photography: The Ease and Difficulty of the Art Form

I am a Los Angeles based Street and Documentary photographer. I have been making images for over 22 years. I use a Sony a7ii, Ricoh GR and Fujifilm X100F. My aim is to capture emotion in fleeting moments, so as to connect with the subject I am shooting and thus provide the viewers of my images with that connection as well.

On How Photography Taught Me to Cherish Moments

I'm an amateur photo-hobbyist living in Tokyo, Japan. I picked up photography around 3 years ago, thinking I could jump into a new realm of world that I've never understood before. Prior to picking up a camera, I was a normal college undergrad who puts studying first before most of my hobbies; however, photography taught me that I should cherish the people and the moments around me and try to remember them especially as a foreigner living in a wonderful place like Japan.

Photography is, without a doubt, a form of therapy and self-expression for many creatives. We take photographs to document our own ideas, visions, dreams, perspectives, and journeys. For New York City photographer artist and bestselling author Damien Echols, photography became another spiritual component in his journey to healing from extreme post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Mark Broyer Captures the Beauty of After Hours in Hamburg

Cities take on a different persona at night, and they can either be full of energy or melancholy, depending on the city, the districts, or time of the night. Street photographers who prowl their towns by nightfall sure know this very well, and it's interesting how their photo narratives reveal which part of the night they prefer to document.

Stefano Gardel Captures the Pervading Darkness in London

There's something about cities at night that get photographers prowling the streets in search of stories. Sometimes it's the seemingly alternate world that comes to life when the sun sets and the city lights bathe everything in a different glow.

Sample Image Gallery: Nikon 28mm f1.4 E Lens (Nikon F Mount)

We've been playing with the new Nikon 28mm f1.4 E lens for a little while now and are honestly completely blown away by the image quality. The Nikon 28mm f1.4 E lens is incredibly sharp wide open, but is also has great bokeh and an overall very nice look that I genuinely feel will make a whole lot of sense for portrait photographers, documentary photographers, photojournalists and street photographers. Street photographers: yes. The look is really stunning.

Sample Images: Rokinon 35mm f2.8 for Sony Full Frame E-Mount

We've spent some time with the new Rokinon 35mm f2. 8 for Sony E mount cameras and are liking it in many ways. Rokinon's glass has long been underrated in the industry and they're somewhat overshadowed by the likes of Sigma, Tamron and Zeiss.

Lens Review: Leica Summaron-M 28mm F5.6 (Leica M Mount)

The Leica Summaron-M 28mm f5. 6 is a lens that in many ways is bound to be the love of many street photographers out there. One could easily think to themselves: why would someone go crazy over a small, slow prime lens? There are a lot of great reasons beyond just its more affordable price point.
