Tamron Japan has issued an apology, stating there will likely be shipment delays for its 17-28mm F2. 8 Di III RXD Sony E mount lens due to demand exceeding production. Initially set for a July 25 release date, it appears orders could ship a little later than expected.
In a notice posted on its website, Tamron Japan says (translated via Bing Microsoft Translator) it has ‘received reservations that far exceed our expectations for the new 17-28mm F2. 8 Di III RXD (Model A046)’ and ‘It is expected that the number of production will not keep up with the customer's demand. ’
Tamron follows the message up with an apology, saying it is sorry ‘for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers and those involved who are waiting for the product to be released. ’ Both current and future orders will likely be impacted according to the notice, so keep that in mind if you've already pre-ordered or plan on purchasing one these units in the near future.
The Tamron 17-28mm F2. 8 Di III RXD for Sony E mount is currently available for pre-order at B&H for $899.
