The next major photoshow is the CP+ show which starts on March 1. All manufacturers will announce new cameras/lenses and I expect the same to happen from Sony. First let’s start from two facts: 1) Sony registered a new camera code which usually means there will be a new camera launch within 3-4 months.
2018 is going to be a crucial year for the following reasons: 1) It’s Photokina year 2) Canon and Nikon will launch their Full Frame mirrorless system cameras So far Sony had no direct competition in their mirrorless segment and this “advantage” will be gone within 2018.
UPDATE: Sony press conference is at 5:00 pm PST (Las Vegas time). And I will embed the live stream here on SAR! So far I got NO reliable info about a possible Alpha camera announcement. All we know for sure so far is that Sony had a new camera code registered in Asia.

At the begin of July I got this mail from a new source. I did post this rumor as SR1 only as I had nothing to back up his info. But now we know that two of the lenses he mentioned were announced with the new A7rIII.

Sony will have a major press event in New York City on October 25 at 10am local time. I probably will be able to embed the video live stream here on SAR. As usual it’s impossible to be 100% sure of what could be announced.
The NABshow did open today. The Sony teased “exciting new camera“ is actually the new HXC-FB80 camcorder and not a new A7sIII we were hoping to see. The one source who correctly told me about the new RX camera announcement on Sept 12 (rumor here) just confirmed once more the new A7s is coming “soon”. I know the word “soon” is not helping us much but this is what he told me.
Yesterday I reported two news: 1) Sony teased the launch of an “exciting new camera” for the NABshow starting on October 18. 2) Sony will have a second press event (with product announcement?) at PhotoPlus next week (October 24 or 25).
(SR5) Sony official invitation for “an exciting new camera”….but don’t get too excited, it might be camcorder only

On October 18 (+1 or -1 day) Sony will announce a new camera. Of that I am 1000% sure. And the chances are good that this might be the new A7sIII. All we know from a reliable source is that it has the same A9 PDAF.
Just a rendering of the possible A9s (but it could be named A7sIII) I got some more details about the next Sony announcement coming next week on October 18 (+/- 1 day). The chances are increasing that we will get a new A7sIII (or A9s).
It’s always terribly hard with Sony to know exactly what’s going to be announced. But that little I can tell you for sure: We will get one more announcement within the next 4-6 weeks.
Both Nikon (rumor here) and Canon (rumor here) are finally going to compete against Sony in the Full Frame mirrorless segment. Both companies should launch their new FF system cameras in 2018 (probably at Photokina in September).
As disclosed by patent JP2016/003349 Sony is working on a sensor with built-in lens structure array. This would allow Sony to make very thin cameras ideal for mobile devices and the automotive industry.
Image on top shows the current 20mm f/2. 8 A-mount lens The following info is from a source whom shared a few correct info in the past. He told me that Sony will launch a new 20mm f/2. 8 Full Frame E-mount later this year.
