I recently came back from my trip through Central Asia for a photo project. A fairly unknown region but quite spectacular. It consists of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan which are all former Soviet states.

I drove 10000km through the Balkans looking for Spomeniks. In the language of the former Yugoslavia this word means monument, or memorial. They commemorate the Second World War and were mainly built in the 1960s/70s during Tito’s regime, who furthermore, inaugurated a certain number of them himself. boredpanda.com »
