Unsplash, a free online stock photography website that allows anyone to share their images under a CC0 license, has announced the addition of photo archives from several major private and government institutions to its online platform.

The expansion was made under the Unsplash for Education initiative announced in July 2019.

The stock photography platform announced the new addition on January 30. Institutions that have brought image archives to Unsplash include the Library of Congress, New York Public Library, NOAA Photo Library, Europeana, Austrian National Library, Boston Public Library and more.

Newly added content includes everything from digitized paintings to historical photos from major past events all over the world. As well, the addition of NOAA's Photo Library adds unique photos ranging from snapshots of rare ocean creatures to images of the sunken Titanic and other deep-sea content.

Users will also now find public health and medical imagery shared by the National Cancer Institute, including some images of medical procedures, healthcare facilities and doctors. The Centers for Disease Control and the US Geological Survey have shared similarly modern imagery on their own Unsplash accounts. These institutions join NASA, which has also made a large selection of space images available on its own account.
