Tentpole YouTube vlogger Casey Neistat has ended his daily videos after a decent run beginning in March 2015. Over the course of 15 years, Neistat has carried his story across multiple mediums with great success.
In 2010, he explored the TV platform with The Neistat Brothers, created one of the first viral marketing videos in 2012, set the template for Snapchat stories during its early years, and used the power of daily vlogging to solidify his position as a top YouTube star.
“The success of this vlog has not satiated my appetite it's only made me more hungry. ”
Neistat says that he initially dedicated himself to daily vlogs as an outlet for inducing creativity; however, with his unique style now perfected, it is no longer a creative challenge worth undertaking. “I have to kill this before I can give birth to what's next” says Neistat, who is still committed to harnessing YouTube as a storytelling platform. That said, he has yet to hint where his new journey will take him.
Perhaps we’ll see more videos such as THE $21,000 FIRST CLASS AIRPLANE SEAT which despite being uploaded two months ago, attracted 25 million views to become Neistat’s most watched video to date. At the time, the video turned the popular unboxing video trope on its head by unpacking an entire first class airplane seat experience instead.
Either way, chances are we’ll be seeing Neistat apply his touch on more viral stories in the future, whether it’s behind or in front of the camera.
