Do you need a fancy, anodized aluminum film canister for carrying around your rolls of 135 and 120 film stock? Absolutely not, but sometimes you might just feel like being a little extra. Enter The Film Canister, a new accessory that’s a collaboration between design studio RAMA WORKS and art brand MIGHTYKILLERS.
The over-engineered film canister is made of a single block of aluminum that’s been bead blasted and anodized (Type III) for a graphite color. The lid attaches via a built-in screw at the top for what appears to be an incredibly tight seal. The front of the canisters feature a pair of laser-etched logos feature both RAMA WORKS and MIGHTYKILLERS branding.
The Film Canister is currently available to pre-order for 135 film ($95) or 120 film ($110), which carry two and four rolls, respectively. These are certainly a luxury item in every sense of the world, but if you’re a film shooter who doesn’t mind splurging, it’s a novel little product.
RAMA WORKS says pre-orders will end September 30 at 5pm PST. RAMA WORKS is also sharing production updates on its Prototype blog. It’s worth noting RAMA WORKS has created other photo-specific gear in the past, including a similarly-designed hotshoe cover made of machined, anodized aluminum.
