Viltrox has announced the release of two new lenses: a 35mm F1. 8 autofocus lens for Sony E-mount cameras and a 50mm F1. 8 autofocus lens for Nikon Z-mount and Sony E-mount cameras. 35mm F1.
8 AF lens for E-mount
The 35mm F1. 8 autofocus lens for Sony E-mount cameras is effectively a remounted version of the same lens released back in September for Nikon Z-mount camera systems. It’s constructed of ten elements in eight groups, including two extra-low dispersion elements, two aspherical elements and two high-refractive index elements. It features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, has an aperture range of F1. 8 through F16 and offers a minimum focusing distance of 40cm (15. 8”).
As with its Nikon Z-mount counterpart, the Sony E-mount version is chipped so it can transfer EXIF and autofocus information to the camera. The E-mount version also features the same Micro USB port on the rear mount of the lens for updating the lens with future firmware updates. The lens measures 70mm (2. 76”) in diameter, 90mm (3. 54”) long and weighs 370g (13oz). Below is a gallery of sample images, provided by Viltrox:

50mm F1. 8 AF lens for E-mount and Z-mount
The 50mm F1. 8 autofocus lens for Nikon Z-mount and Sony E-mount is a newcomer to Viltrox’s lineup, but follows the same visual design language as the aforementioned 35mm F1. 8. It’s constructed of 11 elements in 10 groups, including one extra-low dispersion (ED) element, two high-refractive index elements and two aspherical elements. It has a minimum focusing distance of 55cm (21. 6”), uses a 55mm front filter thread and has an aperture range of F1. 8 through F16.
As with the 35mm F1. 8 lens, the 50mm F1. 8 lens is chipped for EXIF and autofocus data transfer, and comes with an integrated Micro USB port for updating firmware as it’s released. The lens measures 70mm (2. 8”) in diameter, 88. 2mm (3. 5”) long and weighs approximately 350g (12. 4oz).
