Drone Footage Captures Timeless Beauty of Iceland

Update: This article previously stated that an Sony A7RII was mounted to a DJI Phantom 4 drone. That has been corrected. Cinematographer Bjarke Hvorslev and Kristian Kettner embarked on a 6 day trip to Iceland to film a stunning short film dedicated to the majesty of nature’s wonders.

The film was shot using a DJI Phantom 4 and a Sony A7R II. The HD footage sends the viewer soaring into the sky and provides a literal bird’s eye view of vast geological plains and postcard pretty sights that can be found on the sparsely populated island.

Ice & Fire was mostly filmed in 4K resolution using ND / Pol filters from PolarPro and D-Log settings. Although retrospectively, the duo would consider using D-Cinelike because they mention that the Phantom codec was unable to process so much compression.

Regardless, the final product is a masterfully crafted drone film that also shows off the video editing prowess of the creative team behind it.
