We have received more information and some confirmation on the sensor size of the V1 powershot. This is a newly developed sensor from Canon, and it certainly appears to be different as its a size that no one has done before.

Canon is coming with a video focused APS-C camera, and we have sporatically reported about it and recently published a rumored specifications for a new APS-C camera. We have been told that Canon will announced an EOS R50 V, and it has been described as “boxy”.
There are two notables from CIPA 2024 statistics, and I think both are curious, but for far different reasons. First, let’s talk about compact cameras. Even though most compacts being bought and sold these days are used, even new compacts last year showed a 31% increase in shipment value and 9% units shipped from 2023.
We have been told that the new PowerShot V1 will be shown to retailers in the coming month or so, but it doesn’t look like we’ll see it announced before CP+ later this month. However, if that changes, all the better.
Earlier in the week we quickly evolved intitial assumptions of the Canon PowerShot V1 being vlogging camera to it becoming a whole new line of Canon PowerShot compact cameras. We are definitely happy about that quick evolution of the rumor.
