After seeing off GoPro’s Karma drone, DJI has enjoyed an amazing year. Not only did the brand launch the tiny Spark, but the Mavic Air also brought the company great praise - thanks in no small part to the specification being very close to the higher-priced Mavic Pro.
Well, that could soon be explained as it’s expected that DJI will soon release the Mavic Pro 2 and the new drone’s rumoured spec sheet has really got people talking! Photo Rumours has listed a number of claimed specifications from the forthcoming Mavic Pro 2 and, while it’s always worth taking these rumours with a pinch of salt, it’s no wonder drone fans are getting excited.
The rumored specs include details of the Mavic Pro 2’s performance, and that it will boast a flight time of over 30 minutes (potentially 35 minutes) on a single charge. This is a big jump compared to the 27-minutes from the Mavic Pro and the 16 minutes from the Spark. But the specs get even better as the Mavic Pro 2 is rumored to have a rapid top speed of over 70kph, up from 65kph on the Mavic Pro.
Internal rumored specs include the presence of a 1-inch CMOS sensor, which is set to be paired with a 24mm lens. Some rumors even suggest the camera may be detachable, not totally dissimilar to the GoPro Karma. Apparently there’ll be no mechanical shutter, which should result in the camera being able to capture fast shutter speeds and burst rates.
Lastly, the rumoured specs continue with a newly-redesigned 3-axis gimbal, new sensors at the rear of the drone and an improved avoidance system - all likely to help drone users reduce the risk of accidents.
Initial reports suggested the Mavic Pro 2 could be launched as early as late March, but more recent rumors suggest this may be optimistic and that an April release is more likely.
What do you think about the rumored specification and what else would you like to see on the Mavic Pro 2?
