The Sigma FP-L is a confusing camera. Its pricing is a bit high. It has presumably the same sensor as the Sony A7RIV. The original FP is a much better cinema camera. Also, the aforementioned Sony is a much better stills camera.
I believe a Full-Frame Foveon Sensor camera in L-mount would make much more sense. Read on after the break to find out why. . thephoblographer.com

In the past few years, we have witnessed the beginning of the end for the DSLR. CIPA reports have shown a toward-facing trend in the past, with this segment seeing a 20% decline. While people debate that the DSLR reign will continue, despite the odds, we must face the harsh truth: nobody is ready to revive them.
There's nothing wrong with saving money on EF glass, the EF to RF adapter with third-party lenses works just fine. There is still inventory of some high performance SIGMA lenses for the EF mount and today B&H Photo has the Sigma EF 28mm f/1.
Canon has been known to not work with third-party lens makers. But this year, that changed. With Sigma, Canon has opened a new pathway for their APS-C cameras to get more lenses. There have been rumors that Sigma will launch a bunch of new lenses, and now Sigma Global has announced the dates for the same, as well as the focal lengths.
CineD mentioned something interesting in their review of the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art lens. Sigma has already announced that they will launch the following Sigma APS-C lenses for the RF mount – the first three are on my Christmas wish list (Craig if you are listening – ahem). Last week, a report came out of Japan suggesting that Sigma was no longer producing lens filters, including its UV protective and circular polarizing filters. Sigma tells PetaPixel that this report is false and that the company still makes filters. [Read More]
