Smartphone brands have been battling it out over who can attract photographers to their newest models for sometime now. Well, with the release of Sony’s Xperia 5, it's clear the war is still waging as the brand’s last model has some very impressive imaging specs.
The Xperia 5 features three cameras and 12-megapixel sensors.
The Xperia 5 is built around a triple camera set-up with a wide-angle 16mm f/2. 4 lens, a 26mm f/1. 6 lens and a 52mm f/2. 4 camera on offer to users with 12-megapixel sensors on each camera. Backing up the sensor is Sony’s Optical SteadyShot technology and the brand’s BIONZ X processor.
The lighweight cameraphone tips the scales at just 164g.
Perhaps of even more interest to photographers in particular is the inclusion of Sony’s Eye AF technology that features in the brand’s Alpha cameras, such as the new a7RIV and a6600. The Xperia 5 also offers a continuous burst shooting mode of up to 10 FPS (Frames Per Second) with AF/AE (Auto Focus and Auto Exposure) tracking, meaning you should be able to capture fast action sequences.

What’s more, the main 26mm camera features a lens with a f/1. 6 aperture, enabling photographers to capture impressive images in low light conditions. Photos can then be reviewed on the Xperia 5’s huge 6. 1-inch Full HD+ OLED display that’s protected by Gorilla Glass.

Boasting IP65/IP68 certified water resistance to guard against moisture and weighing just 164g and available in four colour designs (blue, black, red and gray), the Sony Xperia 5 will be available from November and priced at $799.
