The Samsung Galaxy S8 Will Shoot 1000fps

Despite the abject failure that was the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is looking on from to once again produce one of the best smartphones of the year. In particular, the company will look to outdo the iPhone and Google Pixel in the photography stakes, after the Pixel claimed the top spot in DxOMark’s smartphone rankings.

In just a couple of weeks, Samsung is expected to unveil the S8, which will feature an updated 12MP shooter, capable of 1000fps video shooting. The current Galaxy line can shoot a respectable 240fps. Although 1000fps isn’t unheard of on mobile devices, but is undoubtedly impressive, allowing for 33x super-slow-motion shooting.

According to SamMobile, Samsung has added an additional DRAM layer on the image sensor, similarly to the tech used in Sony’s Xperia XZs and XZ Premium smartphones, which can shoot at 960fps in 720p resolution.

Although both sensors are rumoured to use similar technology, Samsung will develop their own sensors rather than using ones manufactured by Sony, according to reports.

It’s also expected that the S8 will feature an 8MP front camera with AF, and an ambitious ‘infinity display’, which will emulate the curved glass as the Galaxy Edge line.

The full details of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be revealed on March 29th, with units shipping sometime in mid-April.
