Autel Robotics is urging consumers to ‘Make the Switch’ to their EVO model. With Parrot exiting the consumer drone market and Skydio teasing a drone that won’t be released until this Fall, it’s an ideal time for Autel to capitalize on DJI’s lack of competition.
The company is offering a unique proposition with its trade-in program; Autel is accepting used drones made not only by Autel, but also those produced by other major manufacturers including DJI, Yuneec and Parrot.
Autel’s main selling point is the EVO’s 4K camera that captures 60 frames-per-second (fps), giving users the ability to produce higher-resolution video. DJI’s Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom models, in comparison, top off at 4K/30 fps. Their Phantom 4 Pro is able to capture 4K/60 fps but is not compact or foldable like the EVO or Mavic series. Retailing at $1,499. 00, the Phantom 4 Pro has also been out of stock for over half a year.
An Autel EVO currently starts at a competitive price point of $999. The cost will be reduced based on the value of the drone traded in. While a pre-determined amount or percentage is not specified on the site, a grading criteria has been established so users know how to classify their trade-ins as they start the process of upgrading to a new EVO. It appears Autel will even accept non-functioning drones as long as the remote and all other accessories are included.

Models of consumer drones that can be traded in for credit towards an EVO include Yuneec’s Typhoon H and 4K, everything ranging from a DJI Spark to Phantom 4 Advanced, Parrot’s Anafi and Bebop models, and Autel’s own X-Star and X-Star Premium. Trade-ins can be initiated on the site or through their network of authorized retailers and partners. They also address a common pain point: ‘avoid selling online, meeting strangers and being strung along.
