For the past year or so, I've been doing a special experiment with the way that I shoot photos: I've been working almost exclusively with Daylight White Balance. Crazy, right? Especially when these days the auto white balance setting seems to do such a great job.

If you're a photographer who shoots in auto white balance, stop. Can you fix it in post? Yes. Will it really, truly help you? No, not really. I've been very much of the opinion and idea that photographers should go into shooting with a creative vision of some sort to help them create images that are more unique to them, and a customized white balance is only the start of this--and it's bound to help you create images that someone else shooting the exact same thing most likely won't get. thephoblographer.com »

Smartphone photography has gotten a little easier for Google fans as the Google Photos app has now introduced an auto white balance feature. The auto white balance can work in conjunction with the full Auto tool which at this point can take control of settings that include the exposure, saturation, and contrast of an image. digitalrev.com »

When is the last time you really thought about what is going on inside of your digital camera when you are taking a picture? I'm not talking about the exposure or direct photographic processes but beyond that, into the physics and other scientific processes? As more and more photographers start going from digital to analog, we wanted to teach everyone about a big part of how you not only see light, but also color. Note that most film is balanced to daylight, so if you go about shooting with it in various situations, you'll probably like the results or you won't. thephoblographer.com »

I have always looked forward to photo session days while simultaneously dreading the thought of retouching on the back end. In today's fast-paced world, who has time for that? It shouldn't be too much to ask for a solid workhorse that does everything well and requires little to no editing.

There are filters that help cut down on light pollution in big cities and in the wild. But believe it or not, you don't necessarily need them. They can always surely help when trying to photograph the night sky; however, you still might end up working in post-production anyway to darken certain areas of the sky.

Ask yourself: have you ever felt so good about an image that it didn't need post-production? Trust me, there's no better feeling. In the past few years, I've given in. I've become so incredibly sick of staring at a camera screen to then stare at a computer screen.
