Tamron has pulled the covers off a brand new flagship wide-angle lens that boasts a fast maximum aperture of f/2. 8 and Vibration Control (VC) technology that gives photographers 4. 5-stops of image stabilisation compensation.
Designed for full-frame DSLR cameras and to be available in Canon and Nikon fitment, the new optic weighs in at 1110g (1100g for the Nikon version) and features premium glass with a XGM (eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical) lens element, as well as multiple LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements. Tamron explains; “the distortion and lateral chromatic aberrations so common in wide-angle shooting have been greatly minimised. Furthermore, a newly developed AX (Anti-re ection eXpand) Coating has been applied to reduce ghosting and are more thoroughly than ever before. ”
Suitable for professional landscape for architecture photographers who want to capture a wide angle of view while maintaining a high degree of image quality and the inclusion of Tamron’s 'Moisture Resistant Construction' should give users peace of mind when using the lens in bad weather.
Along with a built-in Dual MPU (Micro-Processing Unit) to improve autofocus speed, the fast maximum aperture of f/2. 8 means photographers will be able to achieve fast shutter speeds in low light reducing the risk of camera shake.
The 15-30mm becomes Tamron’s third constant F/2. 8 G2 lens, joining the 70-200 F2. 8 G2 and 24-70 f2. 8 G2 lenses and, although no price-tag has been revealed, Tamron has give the heads up on availability, with the Nikon fitment shipping 21st September and the Canon fitment shipping 12th October 2018.
