When Canon announced the Canon RF 200-800mm F6. 3-9 IS USM, it immediately made its way onto Canon's “we can't meet demand” list. This has been a regular occurrence for most lenses Canon has announced in the last few years.
This was another unanimous selection between Craig and myself, and I think even though there's a limited amount of actual field testing so far with this lens, it is going to be easily one of the best super telephoto zooms that Canon has made in terms of raw sales.
Canon enters a new era of inexpensive reach with the 200-800mm. Combine this with an R7 and you can place more pixels on far-away targets than any other camera system that is in the financial reach of mere mortals.
Canon has announced the Canon RF 200-800mm f/6. 3-9 IS USM, the first super telephoto zoom that reaches 800mm. Canon also kept the price to a surprisingly low $1900. Thursday is a big day for Canon shooters, as Canon will be announcing 3 new lenses and shipping the recently announced RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM. We have confirmed some information about the Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.
Canon will have their final round of lens announcements of 2023 on November 2. We can expect three new lenses to be announced that day. This follows this month's announcement of the RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM, which has seen some good preorder demand.
