Cosina has announced the release of its Voigtlander Color-Skopar 28mm F2. 8 SL II S Aspherical lens for Nikon F-mount camera systems. The lens, which is fully manual and constructed entirely of metal and glass, consists of seven elements in six groups, including a double-sided aspherical element.

Cosina says the lens was designed ‘with nostalgia and functionality’ in mind as a tribute to lenses released in the mid-to-late 1960s.

The all-metal helicoid focusing unit inside the lens enables a short minimum focusing distance of just 15cm (6"). Cosina has also included a build-in chip and an Ai coupler to ensure it works with nearly any Nikon camera you put it on.

Other features include a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, a 52mm front filter thread, and an aperture range of F2. 8 through F22. The lens measures 66. 3mm (2. 6") in diameter, 32. 8mm (1. 3") long and weighs 255g (9oz).

Below is a sample gallery of images, provided by Cosina:

The lens comes in two versions: one with a silver front filter ring and one with a black front filter ring. As Cosina notes, the silver rings are nicknamed Sakishiro (‘shiro’ means white in Japanese) while the black-ringed lenses are nicknamed Sakijiro (‘jiro’ is black in Japanese) by collectors.

The Voigtlander Color-Skopar 28mm F2. 8 SL II S Aspherical lens for Nikon F-mount camera systems is expected to be released in October in the Japanese region for 65,000 yen (~$600). A metal lens hood can also be purchased for 5,000 yen (~$45). No mention was made regarding pricing and availability elsewhere around the globe.
