Irix has already made its name known in the still photography world, but now it’s looking to make its mark in the cinema world as well with the announcement of the 150mm T3. 0 1:1 Macro Cine lens.

Irix says its first cine lens is capable of resolving for 8K cinema cameras. It features twelve elements in eight groups, including four high refractive elements and three low-dispersion elements. Irix says this construction ‘offers superb high resolution, nearly zero chromatic aberration and has almost no visible distortion (as low as 0. 1 percent). ’

The lens is fully manual with internal focusing via the geared rings and a de-clicked aperture ring. It features an 11-blade aperture diaphragm, an 86mm front filter thread, a detachable/reversible lens hood and is said to be weatherproof and dustproof. The lens will be available in Canon EF, Sony E, Micro Four Thirds and PL mounts when it launches. Pricing and availability are unknown at this time.
