Why? That's the question that I'm asking about the RICOH GR III Street Edition camera. The company, seemingly taking a page from Leica's book, put a giant orange ring around the front of the camera to draw attention to it.
"Lucky for me they never asked to see a portfolio because unbeknownst to them, I had just purchased my first digital SLR only a month before," explains Glenn Batkin to us about how he got into photography.
"There is value in pushing yourself creatively not just skillfully," says Daniel Anez. He's a street photographer that wants to think outside the box. He wants to go beyond the fundamentals and create street photography that encourages his audience to build their own narrative.
Henri Cartier Bresson is a man who needs no introduction, his works being timeless and the basis of most photography doctrines up to the present. As we continue to seek his words of wisdom on how to take better photos, there are still some gems to be uncovered here and there.
There’s a lot of articles out there about the pros and cons of using manual focus lenses for your photography, with everyone trying to explain what are the benefits of shooting in manual, and the theory that taking pictures with a manual lens heightens creativity.
Lots of street photographers tend to reach for film these days simply for the aesthetic look and the overall experience of working with it. Plus when you ask a lot of street photographers why they choose to go analog, they tell you that digital just doesn't do it for them.
