With less than 20 days until the 2017 IFA show (Europe’s answer to CES) kicks off in Berlin, news of new products is beginning to make its way out to technology journalists. One of the first headlines relating around the show is the highly-anticipated debut of LG’s new flagship smartphone, the V30.
The phone is likely to be of particular interest to photographers, thanks in no small part to the V30 sporting a dual lens design with a super fast f/1. 6 maximum aperture. LG is certainly breaking new ground with this innovation - the V30 will be the first smartphone to offer such a fast lens and LG say it will also be the; ‘clearest lens ever to be featured in a smartphone’.
Many may ask if the f/1. 6 lens will make that much of a difference over other smartphones that offer f/1. 8 lenses (such as the iPhone 7), but the facts are that the f/1. 6 lens will let in 25 percent more light, - making a huge difference, especially in low light conditions. LG also say that, along with the enhanced light-collecting ability, the higher quality optic design will result in better colour reproduction too!
Along with the ground-breaking lens, the V30 will also offer a laser detection autofocus system and optical image stabilization. Plus the camera module will be 30 percent smaller in size compared to the predecessor V20 smartphone. Pricing details aren’t likely to be released until the IFA show, but Digital Rev will have staff in Berlin, ready to bring you the latest product releases.
