25 years of DPReview: Our editors' first cameras

What was your first camera? This year is DPReview's 25th anniversary. Naturally, we've been thinking a lot about cameras from the past quarter century and even beyond. In that spirit, we thought it would be fun to update an article initially published a few years ago in which current and former DPReview editors share the cameras that gave them their start in photography. dpreview.com »

Gear that got away: reader responses After sharing our own stories of selling gear and later coming to regret it, we heard from our readers with their own tales of woe – and we weren't quite prepared for the emotional rollercoaster ride it would be reading your comments! The Fujifilm X-T4 is a portable, powerful 4K video rig

I recently had an opportunity to shoot a short video while on vacation in New York, so decided to take the X-T4 with me. It's a pre-production unit but one we've been told is close enough to final spec that we can show the video from it, so it seemed like a chance to put in some hours on the camera as we await a fully reviewable model. dpreview.com »

The Lomography Sprocket Rocket Teal 2.0 is Pretty Much the Same Camera as Before

Nothing screams analog quite like the Sprocket Rocket. When it was first launched in 2011 by Lomography, it carried a couple of firsts in its plastic body: it was “the world’s first panoramic wide-angle 35mm camera dedicated to sprockets” and was the first film camera to be fitted with a reverse gear to “rewind and remix” photos with. thephoblographer.com »

Throwback Thursday: Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom

Announced in 2004, the Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom wasn't the first camera with a focal range starting at 28mm, nor was it the highest resolution camera at the time with its 8 megapixel CCD. What made the C-8080 interesting was the amount of work that Olympus put into the lens, claiming that it was designed to be on par with the Zuiko Digital lenses found on its DSLRs. dpreview.com »

Throwback Thursday: Our first cameras

What was your first camera? For this week's Throwback Thursday, I asked fellow DPReview staffers to write a few paragraphs about their first cameras, film and digital. I'll go first. Jeff Keller Unlike most of my colleagues, I wasn't a huge film photographer. dpreview.com »

Throwback Thursday: the Samsung NV10

Pretty? Yes. Well-built? Yes. Image quality? Ehhh. . . In 2007, I was chiefly concerned with three things: fixing whatever had recently broken on my 1980 Datsun 210, scouring the electronics section of the local Goodwill in an endless quest for a louder stereo, and finding older computer games that my home-built PC would play acceptably well. dpreview.com »
