On the lookout for some new fast glass? Tamron has announced the development of a trio of new full-frame lenses and there is something for both DSLR and mirrorless shooters with the optics scheduled to hit the market in mid-2019.
First up is the 17-28mm F/2. 8 Di III RXD – an ultra wide-angle zoom for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras that offers a constant f/2. 8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. Described by Tamron as compact and lightweight, the lens can focus as close as 0. 19m from subjects and features the RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit for fast and quiet autofocus.
Next up are two full-frame lenses for DSLRs. First is the forthcoming 35-150mm F/2. 8-4 Di VC OSD, which has a fast max aperture of f/2. 8 at its wide end, rising to f/4 when zoomed in. Along with a versatile zoom range that covers everything from street photography to portraiture to zoomed in travel-style imagery, the lens benefits from Tamron’s stabilisation technology. Capable of a closest focusing distance of 0. 45m, the lens features LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements and aspherical lenses for superior image quality.
Completing the new lens announcements is another full-frame DSLR optic and the SP 35mm f/1. 4 Di USD marks a big milestone for Tamron, who explained the development of the lens; ‘Tamron’s SP lens series was born in 1979, based on the concept of delivering lenses for taking the perfect picture for those who love photography. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the series. In celebration, Tamron has developed the SP 35mm F/1. 4 Di USD, the distillation of Tamron’s accumulated lens-making expertise and craftsmanship. ’
